MARCH MADNESS UPDATE 1
grade: f
As many people know, the original Spongebob Squarepants Movie is flawless. Because many masterpieces are extremely hard to follow up, I give a little grace to the second Spongebob Movie: Sponge out of Water. Even when grace is taken account of, overall, the Spongebob Movie: Sponge out of Water was a major disappointment.
The very first complaint that I would like to bring about is the hideous graphics. While publicized mostly claymation, the movie only included a small portion those graphics throughout the film (not that I'm complaining, claymation for a cartoon show is just stupid). Even so, the claymation figures weren't even the true Spongebob characters most of the time. They were merely claymation superheroes (as seen in the picture below).
Also, the plot line is extremely ridiculous and random. It has an unreasonably stupid events that don't even make sense. At one point in the movie, the spongebob characters started saying things about teamwork and how you can only succeed when you are part of a team. Not that I completely disagree with this theory, but the whole premise of the movie basically copied the theme of the Lego Movie. Also, if, you don't pay full attention to every little detail, you are completely lost in the plot line.
What I also disliked about the Spongebob movie was that it went against everything that the original show had established. In the end of the movie, Plankton, a character who has been claimed "evil" ever since Spongebob originated, became nice and helpful all of the sudden. Why? I honestly don't know nor do I agree with this drastic change in character from the antagonist that is well known throughout the series.
C'mon, Paul Tibbett, C'mon.

Robotics Teams compete at Legoland
Last weekend the lego robotics teams progressed to the competition at LegoLand. The competition is the FLL Southern California Championship Tournament which was hosted at LegoLand. In order for the teams to make it to this tournament, they had to compete in a qualifying tournament which we took first and second place in. There was four teams that made it to the championship tournament: the Sharks, the Centurions, the Motorbots, and the Mindstorm Magic. Out of all of the FCS teams that competed the Motorbots did the best. The Motorbots took 17th place out of 56 teams, not to mention that this team was our fifth grade team. Also, this team was awarded 2nd place, again out of 56 teams, in the research project category. Overall, our teams did great that weekend, so congratulations to them!

It's Time for Spirit Week!
Sept. 15, 2014 Article By: Luke Werschmidt This year everybody should be pumped up and excited for Spirit Week at FCS. As always, this year's spirit week is jam-packed of fun and exciting competitions for everyone to represent their school spirit. To kick-off Spirit Week all of the classes will show their class pride by competing on Monday in Blue Bucket Blowout. Following Monday's competition, students we be able to get their face or hands painted with paw prints on Tuesday so they can show off their school pride. On Wednesday students will be able to earn candy by wearing a blue or white school uniform shirt. Then, on Thursday chosen students will be able to compete for a prize in a class vs. class competition known as Blue Bottoms Up. If you love blue gatorade than this is the game for you! On friday there will be blue sno cones so everyone can cool down and bring Spirit Week to an awesome, but unfortunate end. Sno Cones will be $1.00 if you have an ASB card and $1.25 if you do not have an ASB card. |
