On Tuesday the volleyball teams defeated Valley and Heights making their way to the championship. The JV volleyball team was able to defeat Valley Christian to earn their spot in the finals. The Varsity Volleyball team was able to defeat Heights to advance to the championship game. Lexxie Erickson was a major contributor as the team's setter. As for the JV, Sadie Pool had an all-around standout performance helping the JV team get to the finals. Both teams were squared away and ready for the important championship games. JV came out on fire and won two games straight with score of 25-20 and 25-22, an amazing win against Heights for the championship. Coach Gaddis said that she "is very proud of these girls, and that all of them played a fantastic championship game." The Varsity team went up against a tough Pasadena squad that had defeated them earlier in the season. The Lady Lions battled hard but came up short losing both games, 25-13 and 25-21. Congrats to both volleyball teams on a successful season.

On Friday our Volleyball teams played our biggest rival Heights Christian. The Varsity team did a great job. Even with a minor set back with a 1st match loss they pushed through. Their second and third games were a success and Friends defeated them. The star players Grace Keeter and Alexis Erickson did a magnificent job throughout throughout the game. As for JV, even though they worked tirelessly they lost. After a 25-20 first game loss they worked hard to get a win 2nd match with a score of 25-13. The third game slipped through their fingers with a score of 15-7. Despite the loss ,Maddie Harkey did an amazing job through the entire game. Friends cannot wait to play them again in the playoffs. The Varsity team will play their first playoff game on Tuesday at home vs. Heights. The JV team will play their first playoff game on Tuesday at home vs. Valley.

On Tuesday our JV and Varsity teams matched up with Whittier Christian and we beat them dropping their record to 2-3. Our Varsity team had an outstanding game led by Lexxie Erickson and Cassie Cooley. Erickson controlled the game at the net as our setter. In the first game the Lady Lions won 25-15, the second game score was 25-12. The Lady Lions improved their record to is 5-1. Varsity volleyball is pumped for their next game against Heights Christian. The JV team also turned in a stellar performance. Kellie Grady and Karly Russell carried the team with their solid serving. Also contributing was the Lions front row of Amanda Albertini, Paige Brakebill, and Kathyrn Orr. The JV Lady Lions are unstoppable with an undefeated record of 6-0.

Last Tuesday our volleyball teams played against the Valley Christian Crusaders. The Varsity team played fantastic and won their games 25-12 and 25-14. Sierra Richardson and Lexxie Erickson were key contributors to the game. Erickson controlled the game on our offense with her accurate setting. While the JV won their games 25-21 and 25-15. The standout players of the game for the JV team were Amanda Albertini and Lucy Jackson with great all-around play and serving. The JV team is now an undefeated 6-0 while the Varsity squad ain't too shabby at 5-1.

On Friday, our Volleyball teams played Rio Hondo at home. Our JV team beat Rio Hondo 25-14 first match and 25-8 second match. As for how everyone played Mrs.Gaddis said " Everyone played well, and it was the best game we have played all season." The JV team continued their undefeated season. Our Varsity team just as well beating Rio Hondo in the first match 25-14 and 25-17 second game. Grace Keeter was a standout for the Lady Lions with her consistent and excellent serving.

On Tuesday, the JV and Varsity volleyball teams played the San Gabriel Bulldogs. Both teams won all of their matches. The first JV match was 25 to 9, and the second was 25 to 20. Amanda Albertini played exceptionally well and contributed the JV success. The Varsity team also played well and won 2 matches with the scores of 25 to 14, and 25 to 9. Amadea Sorgiarto on the varsity team, served a total of 11 serves in a row, 7 of which were aces. The JV team improved their record to an incredible 4-0, and the Varsity improved their record to an outstanding 3-1...VIDEO COMING SOON!

On Thursday, our volleyball teams played Ontario and came home with a win! The JV team beat Ontario 25-17 both matches. Sadie Pool and Aubree MacDonald did an exceptional job at serving. The JV team is now 3-0 after the win to Ontario, and will strive for the perfect season! After JV's dominant performance, Varsity defeated Ontario 25-5 in the first match and 25-10 second match. During the Varsity game everyone contributed to a fantastic win. The Varsity team is now 2-1 in league play and is currently in second place in our league.

Friends volleyball's first away game against Pasadena was an engaging match. The Varsity team in the 1st game lost 25-19 and the second game Friends took the win 25-19. Finally, the 3rd game was extremely close but Pasadena won with a score of 17-15. Even though they lost they had some exceptional plays and quick movements and thinking by Amadea Soegiartio.
The Junior Varsity comes home victoriously with their win against Pasadena. In their first game there was a discouraging loss for friends 25-22. Friends then came back fighting with a second game score of 25-15; with the help of London Mole's 13 serves in a row! A race to the finish in the 3rd game, in the end Friends finish by winning with the final score of 15-11.
The Junior Varsity comes home victoriously with their win against Pasadena. In their first game there was a discouraging loss for friends 25-22. Both the Varsity and JV volleyball teams played West Covina on Friday. The JV team won two out of two matches with a score of 25-12. Congrats to Kellie Grady and Paige Brakebill who were the two best servers of the game. The varsity team won both matches with the scores of 25-10 for the first match and 25-5 in the final match. Coach Morford said, "All the girls contributed to the game and did a great job."

Last Wednesday the Varsity Volleyball team played in the CSL Tournament. The Lady Lions were able to take 4 out of the 5 games. The team was able to play 5 different teams from our league including: San Gabriel, Heights, Ontario, Valley, & Pasadena. Cassie Cooley and Sierra Richardson led the way for the Lady Lions playing great on both defense and offense. This Tournament was great preparation for our league play. Both the Varsity and JV volleyball teams kicked off league play versus West Covina on last Friday.

Girls Volleyball gears up for another championship
Sept. 19, 2014 Article written by: Brittany Carter This week we will be kicking off our volleyball season when the Varsity volleyball team plays in the CSL tournament on Wednesday. Last year, our girls won the championship for both the Varsity and JV teams. The girls will be looking for yet another successful year. Coach Steve Morford says that "teamwork will be our key to a successful season." On Friday, both JV and Varsity will play West Covina at home. Be sure to come out and cheer our Lady Lions on.
