REverend Eric ARcher
This week's chapel was spiritually nourishing. Reverend Eric Archer taught us about nourishing ourselves spiritually, through bible scripture. Just like we eat everyday and it gives us vital nutrition to survive, live, and thrive. Getting spiritual nutrition is just as important. But like we have to eat everyday to get vitals that we use up through the day our spiritual vitals are used up through the day so we must replenish them with daily scriptures.

This week at chapel Ms. Day taught us about how we will be persecuted for being christians, but we should still stand firm in the faith. She also said that we should not grow weary of persecution, but instead still continue to serve Jesus. Mrs. Brennan and Mr. Shires had a very inspirational song. Also Ms. Day spoke out against bullying and other topics that draw us further from God. She also said that the fifth graders are excited to learn about God, but when we get to eighth grade we tend to slack off. So eighth graders should find excitement in God again.

Article Written by Natalie Burton
For the third quarter service project, Friends Christian Middle School has the privilege of sponsoring Laurel House. Laurel House is a group home for teenage girls in Orange County. These girls have come from a variety of situations, ranging from destructive behaviors, such as drugs and eating disorders, to home situations that cause these girls to run away. Laurel House offers these girls a safe haven where they can reconnect with their families and get their lives back together. Many girls often hear about God and how much he loves them for the first time while at Laurel House.
Our funding helps keep Laurel House open, so they can provide a safe home, a good education, and loving support for these girls. Laurel House is a wonderful organization that impacts the lives of countless girls.

Ms. Day
This last Thursday, chapel was especially interesting because not only did Ms. Day speak, but also it was an awards chapel for the Student of the Months and the Character Trait awards. Ms. Day focused on the power of encouraging words, and the impact that we have on other people with our words. The Bible verses that she focused on was James 3:1-18 "Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness. For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what He says, he is a perfect man, able to bridle his own body. If we put bits into the mouths of horses so that they obey us, we guide their whole bodies as well. Look at the ships also: though they are large and are driven by strong winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs. So also the tongue is a smaller member, yet it boasts of great things. How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire!"

Christmas chapel
Article Written by Alyssa Kerscher, Amanda Albertini, Brittany Carter, and Natalie Burton
Christmas chapel, one of the most favored chapels of the year, has earned its hype because of the way its run. Every year, the teachers go up on stage and preform a humorous skit that incorporates a Biblical message. This year, various teachers/ staff members were angels who went down to earth during the holidays to find Jesus. The angels faced Black Friday sales, to being arrested, to starting a food fight in a soup kitchen in their search for Jesus. However, Jesus was found locked in the church, not being shared to the world by his followers.
Another favorite part of the chapel is the music. To get into the holiday spirit, teachers start off the time by singing a few Christmas songs. Also, at the end of the chapel, they sang the Christmas break version of Santa Claus is Coming to Town.

October 30th Mr. Kempton
Article Written By: Amanda Albertini
Thursday, our former superintendent Mr. Kempton came. he told us about his amazing time at an Angels v.s Orioles game; he related him being a fan of the Angels and how that we can be fans of God or followers of God. To be followers is to study God's word and go wherever he leads and to stay with him through good or bad. To be a fan is to route for for God only in the good times and live the rest of their life as the please. Let's be followers and hear God's word by following Him wherever He commands and no matter the circumstance.
October 22nd Jason Morones
Article written by: Amanda Albertini
Thursday, Mr. Morones came and spoke in chapel . His message was all about how loving people is not just a feeling but a choice. Who we choose to love is also a choice; a choice we make based on an invisible caste system. This caste system exists in every school across the world. This system is one that can hurt people but can be broken. Everyone feeds in to this system if they know it or not. Not sitting by someone at lunch because if they are "cool" or not. If we do not feed in to the system it will break and everyone is free to love anyone because the caste system will be broken. Then we can follow God's path because we are loving Him and all of his creations.

October 9th Ms. Day Love Your Neighbor as yourself

When showing our love for Christ we are called to love others as Christ loves us. Christ loves us sacrificially, which is the way that we are called to love others. Loving sacrificially is loving and expecting nothing in return. Sacrificial love is doing deeds for others and just loving without knowing your even going to get a thank you. Our faith without deeds is nothing. James 2:19 "You believe that there is one God? Good! Even the demons believe that and shutter". Deeds do not help us get to heaven but it is the out pouring of the love that comes from our hearts given by God is what gives us the drive to do good things.

a good name is better than great riches

Proverbs 22:1 "A good name is more desirable than great riches."
When we are known for something good that resembles God, it is worth so much more than any amount of riches. What are we known for is our legacy. Our worldly objects and riches will instantly be worthless when we come face to face with God. The legacy we have will live on past our departure. The memory we leave behind will either benefit or harm the ones whom are closest to us.

What will your story be?

Sept. 29, 2014
On Thursday last week, Chris Conway came and spoke. He told us that what we do creates stories about us, the stories that are told about us shape us. But our stories are not always about what we were good at or what we are bad at, but how we touched other people's lives.
When we love God we love others because we are all God's creations and we are called to show God's love through our actions. The stories that are remembered about us are how we show up for people in their time of need. We are remembered by our character so we have a choice on what to be remembered by. What we do now shapes us. What will you do today to honor and glorify God? How will you be remembered at this school?

Shadrach, meshach, & abednego
Article Written By: Amanda Albertini

Sept 22, 2014
In chapel last week, Ms. Day spoke of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and how every time you hear a story something extra can be put into the message of the story. She also spoke of how we must be obedient to God and get rid of our idols. Obedience and faith play key parts in our walk with God. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego showed a tremendous amount of faith in God to risk their lives so they would never bow down to King Nebuchadnezzar. As Christians we are called to have that same faith. What people think of you can also be an idol. Ms. Day calls it "fear of man." Shadrach, Meshach and Abendego were tied up and thrown into the fire. They were willing to go for the sake of staying true to God. We may not be faced with that kind of trial but we need to stay true to ourself and do the right thing even if others try to persuade you to do something else.
