Lions take down heights
Caleb Zubas had a fantastic game on the mound. He pitched a complete game leading the Lions to a 2-1 playoff victory. Dalton Sloniger was on fire at the plate. He went 2-4 and batted in Gabe Huante. Sloniger had the clutch walk-off single to win the game and send the Lions into the championship. Heights only managed to score one run batted in by Elijah Carmerena. Congratulations to the Lions winning another game and going to the championship.
LIONS Face Off Against Oxford
The Lions jumped out with an early lead on Oxford Prep and gained a 13-2 victory on Tuesday. The game was quickly decided as the Lions exerted their will early, with eight runs within the first three innings. An RBI single by Dalton Sloniger and an RBI single by Garrett Mitchinson in the first inning got the Lions up to an early lead. In the 2nd inning, Seth Holbrook and Dalton Sloniger both had RBI singles extending the lead of the Lions. Sloniger racked up four RBIs on five hits for the Lions. Reese Abbott looked sharp on the rubber. Abbott held Oxford Prep hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out two. Caleb Zubas recorded the win for Lions. He tossed two innings of shutout ball. He struck out two, walked none and surrendered two hits. The Lions easily handled the Oxford Prep pitching as six hitters combined for 15 hits, 11 RBIs and 11 runs scored. The Oxford pitcher lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed five runs. Later in the game, the Lions increased its lead with three runs in the third. Aaron Milby's single got things going, bringing home Gabe Huante. The Lions built upon its lead with four runs in the sixth. An error scored Brett Pierson to get Lions on the board in that inning. The Lions finished the game with a victory, 13-2. This continues that Lions amazing win streak into the playoffs versus Heights.
Lions Continue Hot streak against whittier
Last week the Lions baseball team played against the Whittier Crusaders. The Lions continued their win streak with a 15-5 victory. Dalton Sloniger went 3 for 3 with 2 RBI's and carried the team along with Adam Lund who had a 3 for 3 day with 2 RBI's. Along with these outstanding players were Garrett Mitchinson and Reese Abbott who also contributed 2 RBI's. Resse Abbott pitched 3 innings striking out 2 and Dalton Sloniger pitchied 3 innings with 3 strikeouts. Dalton Slonigers performance on the mound earned him the win. The Lions Baseball team is looking forward to the playoffs and coming home victorious.
Lions take down ontario 6-1
Last week the Lions baseball team faced off against the first place Ontario Knights. Dalton Sloniger had a fantastic game knocking in 3 runs, he doubled in the 5th inning and singled in the 7th inning. Caleb Zubas was flat out dominant on the mound striking out 6 Knights on the day. He pitched 6 innings and only gave up 2 hits and gave up one run. Also driving in runs for the Lions was Garrett Mitchison and Seth Holbrook. This was a big win for the Lions and they will ride their momentum into the playoffs.
Lions beat whittier for a 8-1 win
Lions jump on Whittier early and win 8-1. They scored 6 runs in the first 3 innings and crushed Whittiers hope from the start. Brett Pierson had an impressive outing against Whittiers lineup. Reese Abbott also recorded the win for the Lions. He got four strikeouts and only walked three. Caleb Zubas went 2-3 with 2 RBI's same with Garrett Mitchison. Dalton Sloniger also had an RBI single. Lions ended up pushing one run in the fourth and in the sixth.
LIONS DROP 10 on Heights
On Tuesday, Lions won against the Hawks 10-6. Caleb Zubas, scoring 3 runs and going 3 of 5 for hits. Also, Seth, Gabe, Aaron, and Garrett. Caleb and Dalton pitched great games with a total of 7 strikeouts. The lions are prepping for there next game against Rio Hondo.
Lions Take the Victory Against Valley
There was an intense back-and-forth game on Friday, but in the end Lions pulled it out and won 11-6. Dalton Sloniger had a good game going 3-4 and scored two runs. In the second inning, the Lions scored on a two-run double by Seth Holbrook, bringing home Alex Lane and Adam Lund. Also, Garrett Mitchison had a strong three outings when he was on the mound as pitcher. Garrett pitched a strong game only giving up one hit, no earned runs, and no walks. Great job Lions! and remember to come out and support our baseball team at the next game.
Lions Lose against ontario
This week the Lions baseball team played Ontario. Giving all their effort and hustle they were unable to come out with the win losing 8-3. Aaron Milby went 2-4 and Caleb Zubas went 2-3 and got 1 RBI. Caleb pitched 4 innings and there were no earned runs. Despite their efforts the Lions did not come out successful. The Lions baseball team looks forward to a win at their next game.
Lions drop season opener
Lions lose the season opener to Heights Christian School 11-3. Caleb Zubas did a great job pitching with 2 strikeouts and a strike ratio of 80%. Also, Aaron, Caleb, Dalton scored runs for the Lions. Some more interesting stats from last weeks game was that Adam Lund and Reese Abbott both got base hits twice. They are going to practice for next weeks games against Valley and Ontario. Lets cheer on the Lions and hope they win!
Baseball Anticipation
We asked some of the star players a couple questions about the upcoming baseball season. We asked Garrett how he feels about the team this year and he answered, " I feel great about this upcoming season. I think we will execute and work together as a team very well." Also, Dalton Sloniger too, "Well, i think we have a goo team and we have a great chance of maybe winning it all this year." Lets hope he is right and GO LIONS BASEBALL!
