Varsity
The Lions Varsity Roller Hockey team continued its domination of the varsity division beating Crossroads Christian by a score of 18-2. The Varsity team in undefeated for the season. Goals were scored by Gavin O’Bryan (4), Matthew Berezowski (4), Joel Godown (4), Luke Ellis (3), and Tyler Leech (2). Rusty Gandolf had 4 assists. Luke Werschmidt in the pipes only let two pucks slip by him. The JVB team also recorded another win last week beating the Huntington Christian Dolphins by a score of 5-2. Goals were scored by Jacob Griffen with three goals and Cole Bazzo and Joseph Rodriguez with one each. Dean Thompson was in goal saving 12 of 14 shots fired on him.
JVA and JVB victories
The Lions Roller Hockey teams chalked up two more wins with both the JVA and JVB teams recording victories in their last outing. The JVA team squeaked out a victory over an aggressive Carden Hall team with a score of 4-3. Scoring goals for the Lions were Jacob Boudreau with two goals, and Taylor Rawley and Tyler Leech each with one goal. Filling in for the JVA goalie was Luke Werschmidt who saved 17 of 20 shots on goal for an 85% save percentage. The season record to date for the JVA team is 4 wins and 2 losses. The JVB team dominated St. Joachim winning by a score of 6-1. Dean Thompson in goals had 8 saves, only letting one puck get by him. Scoring for the Lions were Dean Toigo with two goals and Cassie Cooley, Owen Sinclair, Austen Sinclair, and Joseph Rodriguez, each with one goal. Dean Toigo is leading the team for the season with 9 goals and 3 assists. The team’s record to date is 3 wins, 2 losses and 1 tie.
Lions vs. Hermosa
It was another great week for the FCS Roller Hockey teams. The Varsity team had a hefty win over the Hermosa Drive Hawks beating the Hawks by a score of 19-3. Matthew Berezowski led the charge scoring 6 goals and having 2 assists followed closely by Gavin O’Bryan with 5 goals and 2 assists. Also scoring were Joel Godown with 3 goals and 3 assists, Luke Ellis with 3 goals and 1 assist, and Rusty Grandolf with 2 goals and 2 assists. Luke Werschmidt was in the nest only allowing in only 3 of 10 shots fired on him. The Varsity team in undefeated thus far in the season. The JVA team played a tough match against the Calvary Chapel Eagles. The Lions held the score to 2-2 in the first period, led by 1 in the second period, but unfortunately let in 4 goals in the third period losing to the Eagles 7-3. Dean Thompson had a lot of action as goalie with 24 shots on goal, only letting 7 get by him. Goals for the JVA Lions were scored by Jacob Boudreau with 2 goals and Tyler Leech with 1. The JVA team is 3-1 for the season. The JVB team played their first match last week and had an impressive outing beating Hermosa Drive 10-0. Goals were scored by Dean Toigo and Jacob Griffen with 3 goals each and Cole Bazzo and Joseph Rodriguez with 2 goals each. Dean Thompson was in the goal stopping all 5 goals fired on him. Great start for the JVB team.
Lions mercy hermosa
Last Thursday, lions varsity hockey team started off the game with Hermosa Drive with a 3 - 0 lead. Lions continued to dominate Hermosa throughout the game, playing without a worry. The varsity hockey team continued to play in this relaxed game, showing mercy to Hermosa and allowing Hermosa to score some goals against them. The game ended with end score of 8 - 15 and a Lion win against Hermosa. The varsity Lions hockey team continued their new season with 2 - 0 winning record.
Lions Hockey Get Big First Wins Against Crossroads

The FCS Roller Hockey teams are off to a great start this season with both the Varsity and JVA team recording victories. The JVB team has not played their first game yet. The Varsity team beat Crossroads Christian with a score of 10 – 3. Crossroads started off strong with a 2-1 lead after eight minutes, but Friends came storming back with six unanswered goals. Gavin O’Bryan was the lead scorer for the varsity team with four goals, followed by Luke Ellis with three goals and two assists, Matthew Berezowski with two goals and four assists and Rusty Grandolf with one goal. Luke Werschmidt, as goalie, saved sixteen of the nineteen shots fired at him. The JVA team also had an impressive outing beating Crossroads JV team 8 – 2. Taylor Rawley led the charge with three goals and one assist, followed by Jacob Boudreau with two goals and two assists. Gavin Dixon, Aurelius Young and Tyler Leech also each scored one goal. Dean Thompson, as goalie, saved 10 of the 12 shots in only his second time between the pipes. Both the Varsity and JVA team have games again this week.
